Researcher Development Framework and Seven Pillars of Information Literacy

During 2011, RIDLs – the initiative that preceded and laid the ground for InformAll – played a major role in ensuring that information handling and data management are properly identified and located in Vitae’s Researcher Development Framework (RDF) as a key component of researcher development; and RIDLs charted the relationship between the RDF and SCONUL’s Seven Pillars of Information Literacy.  Importantly, RIDLs was one of the key partners that developed  the information literacy lens for the RDF and the higher education research lens for the Seven Pillars.

RIDLs has built on this foundation to help develop greater awareness and use of the the RDF, its information lens and the Seven Pillars. In particular, RIDLs contributed to and presented at workshops organised with partner organisations, for instance:

– with the UK Council for Graduate Education (UKCGE), at its workshop on the digital future of HEIs, in January 2013 in Manchester; a report from the meeting can be found here.

– with Vitae and Jorum, at a small workshop that focused on data management skills, in April 2013; notes from the meeting can be found here. The event took place under the auspices of the DaMSSI-ABC project;

– with the Society for Research in Higher Education (SRHE), at its workshop on new approaches to digital literacies, in May 2013.
