Open scholarship in France: taking stock
CCSD is the French national Centre for Direct Scientific Communication, is charged with encouraging open scholarship among researchers in France. In 2018 commissioned InformAll to produce a report to help it reflect on progress achieved with the implementation of its 2016-2020 roadmap. InformAll thus took part in a two-day workshop in May, at the Ministry of Higher Education in Paris, that took stock, halfway through the period covered by the roadmap. The report (in French, completed in June but not available publicly) was a synthesis of the discussions over the two days, covering the vision for CCSD over the next 5-10 years; a gap analysis; and the economic model and governance of the organisation. Much of the report addresses the place and value of HAL, the French national repository for the outputs of current scholarly research, and the service that this provides both to researchers and higher education institutions.
